Van den Berg har hørt fra venner, heriblandt Cremer og Schoonhoven, at de har udstillet hos Køpcke. Han tager kontakt, fordi han håber at kunne sende eksempler på sine værker til Køpcke. Han oplyser, at han er 21 år, og at han hører til samme skole som Appel, Van Bohemen og Peeters. Han har allerede haft flere udstillinger i Holland; værker af ham findes i forskellige lande.

Dear Sirs,
From friends, among others Cremer and Schoonhoven,
I learned that they had exhibited paintings in our
gallery. In connection herewith I should like to enter
into contact with you about the possibility of sending you
a few specimen of my work.
My age is 21 years. I am a follower of the school
of Appel, v.Bohemen and Pieters.
In Holland I have already held several exhibitions
and furthermore there are specimen of my work in Germany,
England, Canada and the United States of America.
In view of the above I hope that you will communicate
with me.
