Dear M. Køpcke,
As you asked, I
answered your letter
immediately and in a
hurry, touching the
material points first.
I now have the
leisure to add that
I hope this show
is a success, for
both of us. I am
sorry you have bad

experiences with people,
but again I wish to
assure you that as
far as I am concerned
I can attribute the most
complete inefficiency
and vagueness to M.
Nicolaus. I accepted all
he said as solid and
responsible. It may
be nothing but distraction
because he seems rather
pleasant and well-meaning.
Also I would like

to assure you that I
live in the greatest
modesty in spite of a
good reputation. and
that my terms are
considered quite modest
in the Paris galleries.
You realize that the
work is mature. Also
that the painter has
to live.... I am sure
that we will come to
a good understanding
in spite of a badly

organized beginning.
My best wishes to you,
Yours faithfully
H. Ben Dov

P.S.
Thanks for the promised
invitations. I will not
need more than 50.
H. B.
